Bail review hearing put off until mid summer in Halifax murder case

HALIFAX – A Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge has set dates in late July for the bail review hearing for a Dalhousie medical student accused of murdering a fellow student.

The lawyer for William Sandeson is seeking a review of a judge’s decision last October to deny him bail.

Eugene Tan has said some of the information provided to Justice Jamie Campbell at the original bail hearing was shown to be “unreliable” in a subsequent preliminary hearing.

All preliminary trial and bail evidence before the court is protected by a routine publication ban.

The lawyers will return to court for the bail review hearing before Campbell on July 28.

Sandeson was charged with the first-degree murder of Taylor Samson on Aug. 20, 2015 and ordered to stand trial on March 29 following the preliminary hearing.

The murder charge came four days after Samson was reported missing in Halifax.

Police have said the two men knew each other
