Halifax woman killed in three vehicle crash on Highway 104

BROADWAY, N.S. – A three vehicle crash on Highway 104 claimed the life of a Halifax woman and sent two others two hospital on Monday afternoon.

RCMP said it’s believed an SUV was travelling eastbound on Highway 104 near Broadway, N.S., just before 4 p.m. Monday, when it crossed the centre line and struck the rear driver’s side door of a pick-up truck, before it then struck a westbound car head-on.

The 35-year-old woman driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while a four-year-old boy inside the car was taken to hospital, but is expected to survive. A three-year-old girl in the car was unhurt.

The 72-year-old woman driving the SUV was also taken to a Halifax hospital via LifeFlight with what police called serious injuries.

Those inside the pick-up truck were not hurt according to police, who said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Highway 104 was closed in both directions between exits 27 and 29 for several hours but has since re-opened to traffic.
