Hurricanes wrap up regular season first in NBL, look ahead to playoffs

HALIFAX – The Halifax Hurricanes wrapped up their National Basketball League schedule on Sunday night, finishing the regular season atop the standings as they now look ahead to the playoffs.

The Hurricanes trapped the Saint John Mill Rats 89-82 at the Harbour Station on Sunday night, adding one more tick on the win column to finish the season at an impressive 27-11.

Point guard Justin Johnson scored 19 points, while Centre Kyle Hunt dropped 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

The first round of the NBL playoffs is scheduled to begin this Thursday in Halifax, with the Hurricanes set to take on the Island Storm.

Games one and two are scheduled for the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax for May 5 and 6, while games three and four are set for May 8 and May 10 at the EastLink Centre in Charlottetown.

Game 5 is schedule for May 11 in Halifax, if necessary.
