Tourism Nova Scotia names CEO

HALIFAX — Tourism Nova Scotia has announced the hiring of a permanent chief executive officer.

A government release Tuesday confirmed the hiring of Michele Saran who will join the organization later this Spring.

Saran currently works in Vancouver, serving as executive director of Business Events Canada, a division of Destination Canada.

“This is an exciting day for Tourism Nova Scotia, and Michele is exactly who we need to lead the organization as we execute a new, aggressive approach to growing tourism,” said Ben Cowan-Dewar, chair of the board of directors.

The permanent CEO will be responsible for implementing Tourism Nova Scotia’s strategy to attract more first-time visitors to the province in an effort to help Nova Scotia meet the Ivany report goal of doubling tourism revenues to $4-billion by 2024.

Saran is set to assume the new role with Tourism Nova Scotia, May 16.
