Boil water advisory in Chester reduced

The Department of Environment has reduced the area of Chester under a precautionary boil water advisory.

They say it now only applies to homes and businesses within the boundaries of the intersections of King Street and Pleasant Street to Water Lane and the bottom of South Street to the shore.

The advisory was issued when E. coli and total coliform bacteria were found through the routine testing of a well on Pleasant Street which the environment department says was caused by a break in a privately owned sewer line.

It has since been repaired.
