By The Canadian Press

HALIFAX – Environment Canada is warning some Atlantic Canadians to brace for back-to-back winter storms early this week.

The national weather forecaster says a significant winter storm is expected to track towards the region on Monday.

It says snow will begin in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and southern New Brunswick on Monday afternoon, and Newfoundland will start seeing snow Monday evening.

Nova Scotia could be the hardest hit with up to 35 centimetres of snow expected.

A second winter system is expected to impact Newfoundland on Tuesday night and into Wednesday with additional snowfall and strong winds.
