Halifax under rainfall warning

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Halifax today.

“We’re looking at a total of about 50 millimetres by the time we’re all through,” said NEWS 95.7 meteorologist Richard Zurawski. “Some areas could receive a little more, some could receive a little less, it’s quite a substantial low pressure system.”

He added we can expect rain, wind, fog and just a general mess.

“Even though the temperature is above the freezing mark, with the ground still being frozen, it’s a good potential we could wind up with some icy, slippery patches on the roads,” Zurawski explained. “This is not a good situation, heavy downpours, hydroplaning, localized flooding and possibly ice patches.”

He said with above average temperatures sticking around for at least the next week, it will continue to feel like spring.
