One dead, two others in hospital after man overboard incidents off coast

HALIFAX – RCMP say a 53-year-old man is dead after falling overboard during the first day of the lobster season off south-western Nova Scotia.
Police say the man, who was from Cape Breton, was setting lobster traps when he fell from his vessel around 9:00 a.m. Monday.
The man was pulled from the water by the boat’s crew and was later flown by helicopter to a hospital in Yarmouth where he was pronounced dead.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says it dispatched an investigative team to Woods Harbour, N.S., following two man overboard incidents, one involving the Cockawit Lady and the other the Nomada Queen 1.
A spokeswoman for Maritime Forces Atlantic in Halifax says two other fishermen who went overboard were flown to hospital by helicopter.
The military says the incidents occurred about 74 kilometres southwest of Yarmouth.
