Sambro man charged with attempted murder of Terry Marriott Jr. to seek bail

HALIFAX – A Sambro man charged in the 2008 attempted murder of Terry Marriott Jr. will set a date for a bail hearing Thursday morning in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

Regan Taylor Henneberry was formally charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder in Halifax provincial court Wednesday after being arrested in Sambro on Tuesday morning.

Police allege Henneberry took part in an attempt on notorious crime figure Terry Marriott Jr.’s life in November 2008, just months before he was shot and killed in his Harrietsfield home Feb. 20, 2009.

Rival crime figure Jimmy Melvin Jr. was arrested and charged with Marriott Jr.’s murder in July, and police said it was then they learned of the earlier incident.

Henneberry made a brief court appearance Wednesday morning where his defence lawyer Stan MacDonald said they would be seeking to set a a date for a bail hearing in Supreme Court.

He will return to provincial court Nov. 30.
