Little change expected in Nova Scotia gas prices this week

HALIFAX – Not much change coming to gas pumps in Nova Scotia this week, as NEWS 95.7 predicts when prices are reset at midnight there will a one cent per litre increase.

George Murphy of Consumers for Fair Gas Prices said the events in Paris and Turkey are weighing on calculations.

“The simple fact there seems to be an up-tick in terrorism seems to put a bit of a spark in to the price of a barrel of oil, even though prices haven’t moved a lot,” Murphy said, adding higher inventories are also keeping prices steady.

“Crude oil inventories are up by a million barrels this week, gasoline inventory up 2.5 million barrels, which is a substantial increase on the only product with any demand on it.”

In New Brunswick, gas prices are up Thursday morning, as that province’s regulator moved the maximum price per litre up by an even two cents to $101.4/L.
