Mayor hopes Blue Jays Way in Halifax shows team support

HALIFAX – Blue Jays fever has swept the country, including in Halifax as a temporary Blue Jays Way has been established outside of City Hall.

In a tongue-in-cheek video posted to YouTube, Mayor Mike Savages declares the entire province of Nova Scotia and City of Halifax as Blue Jays Way, before a shadowy man tells him he doesn’t have the authority to do that.

Savage settles on naming part of the Grand Parade outside Halifax City Hall as Blue Jays Way, where a sign has now been put up to honour what he calls, “Canada’s team.”

“It’s down as soon as the playoff runs over, but it’s going to be a long playoff run,” Savage said in the video.

“Show your colours, take a pic with the sign and share it along with your favourite Blue Jays story or memory with the hashtag #BlueJaysWay.”

The Mayor seems to be predicting a big win in game five of the American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, which would send the Blue Jays through to the American League Championship Series.

First pitch in Wednesday’s game can be heard live on News 95.7 at 5:07 p.m.
