HALIFAX– Drug Unit Investigators seized a truckload of drugs last week on Highway 14, east of Windsor.
Windsor RCMP stopped an 18-wheel transport on Highway 14 and netted over 609.5 pounds of marijuana, 19,800 tablets of LSD, 3.9 pounds of psilocybin, 47 methamphetamine pills, a small quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine. The tractor-trailer was also seized.
Halifax Regional Police Staff Sergeant Darrell Gaudet says the investigation is ongoing and they are unable to disclose from where the drugs originated. However, he did indicate the truck was likely headed for Halifax.
“We think most of the drugs were heading for HRM. But, they could also be distibuted elsewhere in Nova Scotia,” said Gaudet.
39-year-old David Joseph MacDonald of Frasers Mills was the driver and lone occupant of the truck. He was arrested and charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
MacDonald appeared in court on October 1 and will return to Kentville Provincial Court on October 27.
