Local NHLers serve up laughs in new ads

In late July, social media was abuzz with pictures of Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon working a Tim Hortons drive-thru in Dartmouth.

Now commercials featuring the local hockey superstars have been released.

In one, the pair bumble through their rookie day on the job, in others they quiz customers through the speaker.

In an ad titled ‘Desert Island’ they ask one customer if she’d rather be stranded with Crosby or MacKinnon.

“I love them both, they’re both home town boys, but Nate’s a little young for me so I guess I’ll go with Sidney,” she replies.

Another video has the pair asking patrons to name a hockey player from Nova Scotia, after 5 answers in a row of ‘Crosby’, they push one person to name another player from Cole Harbour. After some thought, she answers ‘McGinnis’.

That’s not the only shot at the Colorado Avalanche forward, when asked to name the 2013 rookie of the year, one man guessed Crosby instead of saying the correct answer of MacKinnon.

That customer ends up being Nate’s father Graham MacKinnon.
