‘Several items of potential interest’ found in Taylor Samson murder investigation : police

Halifax Regional Police they’ve located items investigators believe may be linked to the murder of Taylor Samson.

The items were found on a property in Lower Sackville investigators have been scouring since Tuesday.

The Soley Brook Loop property is owned by the family of William Sandeson, who has been charged with first degree murder in the case.

Spokesperson Theresa Rath told NEWS 95.7 the discovery was made Thursday evening.

“Around 7:30 p.m. searchers in the area located several items of potential interest,” she said. “Those items were then seized by our forensic identification officers, and brought back to headquarters for analysis.”

Rath explained based on the preliminary analysis of those items, investigators think they may be connected to the homicide of the 22-year-old.

Police say in order to protect the integrity of their investigation, they cannot yet say what the items are or how they think they could be related to the homicide.

Rath added they’ve brought in a new search team today.

“There is a pond that we will be searching today and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team is being brought in for that purpose,” she said.

Rath said crews will remain on scene for as long as they need to, in order to advance their investigation.

Taylor Samson’s remains have yet to be recovered.

The Dalhousie student was reported missing on Sunday, August 16th.

He was last seen when he left his residence, the Sigma Chi fraternity on South Street, around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, August 15th.

Sandeson, 22, returns to court Wednesday, September 2.
