Searchers scour Truro property as Samson murder investigation continues

For a third day in a row, police are expected to be combing a large property in Truro for evidence in the murder of a Dalhousie University student.

The Soley Brook Loop property is owned by the family of William Sandeson, who is charged with first degree murder in the death of Taylor Samson.

Halifax Regional Police, Colchester RCMP and dog service teams, along with ground search and rescue are all involved in the search.

Police spokesperson Theresa Rath told Global News investigators expect to be there for a while.

“We do anticipate being there for a number of days because of the terrain,” she said. “It is a very large area, but it’s a diverse terrain, it’s corn fields, rolling hills, a wooded area.”

A neighbour in the area told Global News he was shocked to hear Sandeson had been charged in the murder of Samson.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I would expect that to be the last person involved with something that serious.”

Police still have not located Samson’s remains, and Sandeson returns to court next Wednesday.
