Eleven Nova Scotia wines and one New Brunswick vintage win awards in competition

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Eleven Nova Scotia wines won medals at this year’s National Wine Awards of Canada.

Held in Ontario by the website WineAlign, the 15th annual awards judged almost 1500 wines from more than 200 wineries across the country.

The Nova Scotia winners included wines from Gaspereau Vineyards and L’Acadie Vineyards.

A sparkling wine from Canning’s Blomidon Estate Winery was the only vintage from the Atlantic provinces to make it on the gold medal list.

One New Brunswick wine placed: Happy Knight Wines’ black mead won a bronze medal in its category.

Tasting for the competition took place in the last week of June, and was based on a points system of scoring by a panel of judges.
