Three sent to hospital in separate weekend crashes

HALIFAX – Three people were taken to hospital in separate crashes over the weekend, including a motorcyclist who collided with a truck in Waverley on Sunday.

The Chronicle Herald reports the motorcycle was travelling on Rockey Lake road just before 6 p.m. Sunday night, when it collided with a truck.

The man on the motorcycle was taken to hospital with what police call non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the truck was not hurt.

Halifax RCMP are still investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash and said it’s too early to determine whether charges will be laid.

Police are also investigating the cause of a two vehicle crash on Highway 7 in Preston Saturday night that sent two people to hospital.

Police a driver and passenger were trapped in their vehicle and needed to be freed by emergency crews before both were taken to hospital.

They are expected to be fine.
