Golden Day for Nova Scotians Monday at Pan Am Games

Nova Scotia’s athletes continue to shine at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.
Halifax’s Ellie Black took home gold yesterday in the individual all-around artistic gymnastics event.
That is the second medal for Black at the games after winning silver over the weekend in the team artistic gymnastics event.
It was gold yesterday as well for Dartmouth’s Ben Russell who, along with teammate Gabriel Beauchesne-Sevigny, won the men’s C2-1000 metre event.
And Fall River’s Michelle Russell added to her medal count, winning silver medal in the women’s K1 500m event. Russell won gold on the weekend in the K4 500 metres.
Canada remains atop the medal standings after a third day of competition at the Pan Am Games, thanks to 17 medal-winning performances – including seven gold medals.
Canada now has a total of 41 medals – 17 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze.
