Pedestrian and bike lanes on Macdonald Bridge to close for 18 months

By

HALIFAX – As of 7 p.m. Sunday, the pedestrian and bike lanes on the Macdonald Bridge will be closed for the next 18 months as part of the $150 million, ‘Big Lift Project.’

In an effort to minimize the impact on pedestrians and cyclists, Halifax Habour Bridges is providing a free shuttle service across the bridge.

The shuttle will operate on a load-and-go basis during the peak hours of 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

During off-peak times the shuttle will run every half hour.

The pick up and drop-off location on the Dartmouth Side is next to the bridge at 30 Faulkner St., while in Halifax, passengers can be picked up and dropped off at the intersection of North and Gottingen Streets.

Ferry service hours have also been expanded to help facilitate the commute.
