Nova Scotians up for grabs in QMJHL draft

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is gearing up for its 2015 entry draft, and a Nova Scotian could go first overall.
After the Oshawa Generals wrapped up the CHL season taking the Memorial Cup last week, CHL pucks are off the ice for the summer, as the next batch of eligible talent makes its way up the ranks.
Mooseheads play-by-play announcer John Moore says, depending on what scouting list your looking at, Herring Cove’s Shane Bowers could go number one.
“It’s something Nova Scotians should be very proud of,” he said.
“He’s had a tremendous career, and this past season capped it off with a terrific performance at the Canada Games, and also at the Gatorade Excellence Cup in Montreal.”
Moore says a couple of other Nova Scotians are in the conversation to go in the first round, including Keenan MacIssac, a defenseman who played last season with Rothesay Netherwood in Saint John, and Cole Rafuse, a member of the Valley Wildcats last year.
Currently, the Saint John Sea Dogs hold the first overall pick while the Mooseheads have the seventh selection.
