Sidney Crosby to join Canada for upcoming world championship

Team Canada received a welcome boost for its efforts at the IIHF World Championships in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic.
With his Pittsburgh Penguins falling to the New York Rangers in five games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Sidney Crosby has committed to Team Canada for the tournament, which runs May 1-17.
Crosby joins fellow Cole Harbour native Nathan MacKinnon on Team Canada.
It’s a positive sign to see Crosby finish the playoffs without an injury of sorts for once. The 27-year-old registered two goals and four points in five games.
Crosby finished third in the NHL’s regular scoring race with 28 goals and 84 points in 77 games.
Crosby’s last appearence in the world championship came in 2006 when Canada finished fourth. He led the tournament in scoring with eight goals and 16 points as an 18-year-old.
