Representatives from Nova Scotia’s film industry say they believe a compromise will be struck soon with the provincial government over proposed cuts to a $24 million tax credit.
The group met with officials from the Finance Department today for the third time in about a week.
Screen Nova Scotia chairman Marc Almon says there have been constructive talks with the government, but he won’t release details of what was discussed.
The group’s co-chairman Scott Simpson says he believes the sides are close to an agreement and there is a mutual desire to reach one quickly.
The industry says a move to reduce the tax credit to $6 million beginning July 1 will drive business away from the province.
Almon says there are tentative plans for another meeting on Thursday but that’s not confirmed yet.
