Woman faces assault charges after altercation, followed by hit-and-run : police

A 35-year old woman is facing several assault charges after a bizarre incident in broad daylight on the weekend.

Halifax Regional Police say they were called to Portland Street Sunday around 3:30 p.m., after receiving a report that a man had been hit by a car.

When police arrived on scene, an officer saw the suspect trying to drive away, and one officer had to jump out of the way to avoid getting struck as the woman sped off in her car.

Police say before all of this happened, the suspect got into a fight with another woman in the parking lot and hit her in the face.

They say when that woman’s husband tried to stop the suspect from leaving, she struck him with her car.

Police located and arrested the suspect on Lakecrest Drive.

She’s facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting police and dangerous driving and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
