Boy charged after forced confinement

Regional Police have charged a 15-year-old boy with robbery, forcible confinement and break-and-enter after a disturbing incident in Dartmouth.

It happened last night on Earleton Avenue, when police say the boy broke into the home of a 75-year-old woman and demanded cash and cigarettes.

When she refused, he grabbed her phone and locked her in a bedroom.

He later let her out of the room when she agreed to give him the cash, then the boy left on foot and the victim called police.

Officers used a K-9 unit to track the boy to a nearby home, where he was taken into custody without incident.

He was held in court overnight and is due in Youth Court today.
