Sunday snowstorm headed for Halifax

The first day of spring is just one week away, but it looks like Old Man Winter is sticking around until the bitter end.

News 95.7’s meteorologist, Richard Zurawski, said Halifax can expect to a very snowy, cold Sunday.

“We’re going to get about 20, possibly 30 centimetres of snow starting early Sunday morning, and tracking through the day.”

He said that snow will be coming down the hardest at around 5 a.m. on Sunday, but it should taper off by mid-afternoon.

“And as we move further inland, some parts of New Brunswick could be getting more because of the swing around of the storm,” he said. “It’s moving slowly, and it’s also going to be a north-easterly sort of wind track, so it’s going to pick up moisture form the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.”

Zurawski said the good news is that we can look forward to a sunny Monday, however, he said Spring looks like it’s going to make a fashionably late entrance this year.
