NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – Convergys says it will close its New Glasgow, N.S., call centre earlier than anticipated this year.
Company spokeswoman Brooke Beiting says the company will begin laying off employees as early as May 29 with the final closure on Aug. 28.
The call centre currently employs 194 full time staff.
Convergys announced last June that the site would close in September 2014, but a contract was extended and the company said it would stay open through the end of 2015.
Beiting says 75 employees will be laid off in May and the rest will be out of a job in August.
She says the closure is final and there will be no more contract extensions for the centre.
