The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has announced its annual awards for what it calls the best of the worst in government waste, and there’s a local winner in the bunch.
Sackville Councillor Brad Johns has won the Teddy Award for municipal government, for his purchase of a $25,000 talking Christmas Tree.
Other winners include Former London, Ontario MP Joe Fontana, who was convicted of breach of trust last summer, and Ontario’s Ministry of Energy for its costly ‘smart meter’ program.
