Government, health unions come to agreement: Premier

In a brief statement, Nova Scotia premier Stephen McNeil said the province and four unions representing health care workers have agreed to a process to figure out bargaining unit structures.

McNeil said he’s hopeful a constructive dialogue will permit all parties to move forward.

He said the government won’t be commenting until after the talks conclude, because of the sensitivity and importance of the discussions.

The Nova Scotia Federation of Labour said in a news release, unions and government are working on a “new option.”

NSGEU president Joan Jessome told News 95.7 unions have agreed to a media blackout while the talks take place.
