HRSB schools to dismiss early as another dumping of snow, rain on the way

Halifax Regional School Board will send students home early, and the winter parking ban will continue to be enforced overnight into Thursday as another messy winter day is looming over Halifax.

According to News 95.7’s meteorologist, Richard Zurawski, we can expect another triple threat of snow, rain and a flash-freeze later today.

He said the white stuff will start coming down by mid-morning, and will switch over to rain once the temperatures rise in the afternoon.

“By the afternoon, that should be mixed with some rain but right now, snowfall amounts are coming in at about 10 to 20 centimetres of snow with another 10 to 15 millimetres of rain later this afternoon as the temperatures get in the plus range.”

After that, Zurawski said temperatures should start to drop again.

“[We’ll] get temperatures falling overnight to about minus three degrees with a mix of sun and cloud tomorrow, when everything’s frozen solid.”

The good news? We can look forward to bidding Old Man Winter’s his farewell in the coming weeks, with the first day of spring now just 23 days away.
