Fred Couples, Mike Weir to square off this summer for RBC Canada Cup in Halifax

Pro golfer Mike Weir announced today he’ll be making his return to our corner of the world this summer to represent Team Canada against Team World in the RBC Canada Cup on July 6.
Weir said he’s excited to return to Halifax, and even more excited to be going up against past Presidents Cup foe and Team World captain, Fred Couples.
“He’s always sort of been like an older brother to me, so the chance to square-off with him will be great.”
Nova Scotia Open director David Corelli said Halifax is the perfect place to play host because it’s a great fit for the type of atmosphere they’re trying to create.
“We were really trying to create something that was more than just a golf event,” he said. “There’s so many traditional golf events out there, and we wanted this to be more lifestyle-driven; to be a celebration of the community, and Halifax was just the perfect partner to do so.”
The Nova Scotia Open returns to Ashburn Golf Course’s new course from July 2-5, with the RBC Canada Cup following on July 6.
