Old Man Winter to pay Halifax a couple more visits

Get ready for some more snow set to hit Halifax in the next couple days.

News 95.7’s meteorologist Richard Zurawski said we can expect snow to start Friday afternoon — luckily he’s not predicting too much of it.

“We’re looking at about five to 10 centimetres of snow, and in total, that’s really not a lot,” he said. “It’s more insult to injury for Halifax.”

Zurawski said the snow should taper off by Saturday morning and could bring winds gusts of up to 50 kilometres an hour — but it’s Monday we should prepare for.

“Monday looks like a fairly significant storm,” he said. “It looks like maybe 10 to 20 centimetres of snow at this juncture. We’re getting a lot of energy coming up from the equator.”

However, Zurawski said it’s still too far off to tell exactly what we’re in for after the weekend.

In the meantime, though, bundle up — according to Zurawski, we’re into the coldest part of the year.

The municipality has been enforcing the overnight winter parking ban on select downtown streets for the past couple nights in an effort to continue the clean up from last week’s back-to-back snowstorms.
