Gas prices set to rise at midnight

Dave Collins with Wilsons Fuels tells News 95.7 Nova Scotians should expect a 6 to 7 cent per litre rise at the pumps at midnight Tuesday.

The Utility and Review Board says it will use the power it has to interrupt the normal date it uses to set prices because of a significant shift in the market price of gas.

It will not be used to adjust diesel prices this week.

The last time the clause was used was in October 2012, which saw gas prices drop by 5.3 cents per litre.

Under the regulated system, prices are normally set each Friday by the review board at 12:01 a.m., and Collins says prices will likely rise again at that normal time.

The board says the regular weekly price adjustment is still expected to happen this week.
