Fatal fire court date rescheduled

HALIFAX – The case of a 30-year-old man charged with murder after three bodies were found in a Halifax-area house fire has been rescheduled.

Codey Reginald Hennigar from Wyses Corner, N.S., was charged after the remains of three people were found in the smouldering home on Old Guysborough Road.

Hennigar is facing second-degree murder charges in the deaths of 81-year-old Clifford William Ward, 54-year-old Mildred Ann Ward and 74-year-old Ida Raye Ward.

Hennigar has also been charged with assault with a weapon and flight from police.

The fire began on the afternoon of Jan. 7 in a rural, wooded area about 25 kilometres northeast of Halifax’s airport.

Police haven’t discussed the relationships between the deceased and the accused, citing the federal Privacy Act.

Hennigar will now appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on February 13th.
