Halifax amps up for Super Bowl Sunday

The biggest sporting event of the year is finally here, and whether your money is on the Patriots or the Seahawks, Sunday night’s showdown is sure to be a good one.

Brianna Deveau works at Niche Lounge in Halifax, she said they’re expecting some big crowds for game day.

“Definitely, if people are planning on coming down, I would highly recommend giving us a call. It’s going to be a great time down at Niche, so hopefully we’ll see lots of people down there.”

In the States, about 325 million gallons of beer will be consumed that day.

But Halifax Police are sending out a warning.

“If you plan on going downtown, there are taxis, there are buses, there are other options — but drinking and driving is not one,” said Const. Pierre Bourdages.

Super Bowl 49 kicks off Sunday at 7:30 featuring a star-studded half-time performance by Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz.
