Airport, city prepare for messy winter storm

Halifax is preparing for the biggest storm of the season.

Halifax International Airport spokesperson Ashley Gallant said if you’re flying to or from Nova Scotia over the next couple days, you may have to brace yourself for some delays.

“Airlines are already looking at weather here in the forecast and weather elsewhere as well, and they’ll be adjusting their schedules accordingly.”

Superintendent of winter operations for the municipality, Darrin Natolino, said road clearing crews will be out on the streets for the next 48 hours.

“It’s safe to say we’ll be all hands on deck, because a storm like this requires some work on the front side of the storm, and the actual cleaning up of the storm as it’s happening itself.”

Nova Scotia Power is already prepping for potential power outages — so stock up accordingly, with water, flashlights and a First Aid kit.
