“Intoxicated” pedestrian ticketed after collision

Talk about adding insult to injury.

Regional Police ticketed a 30-year-old man for public intoxication after he was hit by a car in Dartmouth Thursday night.

It happened on Victoria Road around 8:45 p.m.

Police say a 45-year-old woman was driving south on Victoria Road when the man ran in front of her vehicle and was hit.

“The driver did not have a reasonable opportunity to stop and the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision,” Staff Sgt. Lindsay Hernden said in a news release.

The man was taken to hospital for examination but wasn’t seriously injured.

In addition to the ticket for public intoxication, he was also ticketed for failing to yield to traffic in a roadway outside of a crosswalk.
