North Dartmouth family loses home in fire, cause under investigation

She was only gone to drop her daughter off at school. When she came back 15 minutes later, her house was destroyed.

Halifax Regional Fire division commander Corey Beals said they were called to the Bethel Ave. trailer park in North Dartmouth at 8:46 a.m.

“The fire’s under investigation,” he said. “There were no injuries reported by any of our members.”

Beals said nobody was home at the time the fire broke out.

“There’s significant  fire damage in the kitchen area, and smoke and water damage throughout the structure.”

A young couple lived in the home with their two children, aged two and five years old.

The 28-year-old mother said it was the first home she and her husband bought together. They’d lived in it for the past seven years.

Beals said the cause of the blaze is still unknown.
