Seventy-five-year-old woman injured exiting moving car in Dartmouth

Halifax Regional Police responded to a call of a car accident in a parking lot on Mount Hope Ave. yesterday evening in Dartmouth.

Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders said at about 5:20 p.m. a 75-year-old woman was getting out of the back seat of a vehicle when the car began to back-up.

“When she got out, she was standing up and the vehicle started to reverse and the door struck her, causing her to fall to the ground.”

Saunders said the woman was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but has since been released.

A summary offence ticket was given to the driver of the vehicle for backing up when unsafe to do so.

According to police reports, the driver was a 40-year-old woman.
