Gas down 3.5 cents per litre, diesel up a penny

It will cost you less to fill up the car this morning.

The regulated price for gasoline in Nova Scotia fell at midnight by 3.5 cents per litre, moving the minimum price down to 116.6 cents per litre.

The new price means a 50 litre fill-up is $1.75 cheaper Friday than it was on Thursday.

The news is not as good for those needing to fill up with diesel, the minimum price for which jumped by 1.1 cents per litre to 126.7.

At this time last year drivers were paying $1.25 per litre for gasoline, $1.32 for diesel. Oil was trading at $94.20US per barrel, just over 16 dollars more than yesterday’s closing price of $77.71 per barrel.
