Jogger, vehicle collide on North Park Street

On the city’s first official Crosswalk Safety Awareness Day, a jogger has been hit by a car in Halifax’s north end.

It happened just after 9 a.m. Wednesday on North Park Street near the Halifax Common.

A 33-year-old woman — who was not in a cross walk — was hit by a vehicle going the wrong way in the northbound lane.

She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

The 76-year-old man who was driving was not hurt, and Const. Dianne Woodworth says he has been issued a ticket for failing to obey a sign prohibiting a turn, in this case a right-hand turn.

Regional Police’s press release says the investigation continues, but Woodworth says this is the only ticket that will be issued in the matter.
