Regional Police have a 20-year-old man in custody after he tried to escape in a canoe.
A call came in around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday to report a break-in at a home on Cedarbank Terrace.
The caller said the suspect had escaped in a red canoe.
Police spokesperson Theresa Rath said it’s an unusual situation.
“This is very unique. We don’t often hear about suspects using a getaway canoe,” she said.
The man abandoned his paddle-powered getaway and was apprehended in Sir Sandford Fleming Park.
Rath said it’s not yet clear what charges the suspect could face.
