Marilla Stephenson appointed to job with province

A well-known former columnist for the Chronicle-Herald has a new gig with the provincial government.

Marilla Stephenson left the paper last week after a 35-year career as a reporter, editor and columnist.

In a release issued this hour, the province says she will take on a new role supporting the work of the oneNS coalition.

That’s the volunteer committee tasked with implementing the recommendations from the Ivany report.

Stephenson is working on an 18-month contract in what the province calls “strategic planning, increased efforts to reach out to and work closely with stakeholders, and work to move the project forward.”
