Dartmouth flashing suspect sought after incident involving four children

Halifax Regional Police are searching for a middle-aged man following a flashing incident near Shannon Park yesterday afternoon in Dartmouth.

Staff Sgt. Lindsay Hernden said four children were playing in the woods near Princess Margaret Blvd. at about 12:45 p.m. when a man approached them.

“An adult male party came out of the woods and exposed himself to the kids.”

According to police reports, the man pulled down his pants, and the children ran away screaming.

Hernden said the children — three girls and one boy — were all under the age of 10.

“They fled from the area, ran to their home, and informed their parents and then contacted police.”

A search for the suspect immediately began.

Police used K9 units, and contacted Halifax Transit as well as local cab companies — but the man was not found.

“We have not yet located any suspects in relation to this matter, and it’s currently under investigation,” said Hernden.

The man is described as white, in his 40s, with a heavy build, short brown hair and a clean cut beard.

Reports say  he was wearing a black flat-brimmed hat, a black t-shirt and light blue jeans at the time of the incident.

Police say the case is still being investigated, and ask anyone with any information to contact them.
