PC MLA ejected over Yarmouth ferry spat

HALIFAX – The Progressive Conservative house leader in Nova Scotia was ejected from question period Tuesday following a heated debate over the ferry service from Yarmouth to Portland, Maine.
Chris d’Entremont, whose riding borders Yarmouth, asked whether the government signed a bad deal for taxpayers with Nova Star Cruises.
Premier Stephen McNeil then accused d’Entremont of abandoning the idea of such a ferry service.
D’Entremont took exception and began shouting back at McNeil while the premier was trying to answer his question.
Speaker Kevin Murphy warned d’Entremont to stop but when he didn’t, he was asked to leave the legislature.
The questions from the Opposition followed last week’s announcement that the government was giving an additional $5 million to the money-losing ferry service, bringing the total provincial contribution to $26 million.
