Ehlers to return to Mooseheads

The Halifax Mooseheads are getting some of their offensive weapons back from the NHL.

The Winnipeg Jets have reassigned 18-year-old Nikolaj Ehlers back to the Moose from their training camp.

The 9th-overall pick in last year’s entry draft told News 95.7 he wanted to crack the team, but is happy to return to Halifax.

“Obviously I wanted to make the team this year, but they told me I still had to work on some stuff,” said Ehlers.

Despite being sent back, Ehlers said he had a really good camp.

“I’ve been improving my game every single time I stepped on the ice, I felt really good out there,” he said.  “I’m just happy to get back to Halifax now and start a new season with the guys.”

Ehlers is expected to return to the Mooseheads lineup later this week.

More bad news for the Herd on the blue line, rookie Jean-Sebastien Taillefer missed yesterday’s overtime loss to Val d’Or and is listed as day-to-day.

17-year-old Brandon Worthen has been called from the Valley Wildcats to fill the empty roster slot.

The Moose take to the road this coming weekend to face Charlottetown, Saint John and Bathurst.
