Burnside jail guards attacked

The Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility is back to a ‘lockdown approach’ after more violence on the weekend.

The head of Correctional Services for Nova Scotia said four guards were attacked by inmates as they were being released from their cells on Saturday morning.

There were no serious injuries and no weapons were used.

Sean Kelly said the lockdown kind of approach they are in now means only so many inmates are allowed out of their cells at one time.

The facility just started to ease off a week-long lockdown.

Halifax Regional Police have been brought in and say the investigation is in its early stages.
