It’s More Than Buses launches network redesign tonight

A transit advocacy group is trying to set a new standard for urban transit in Halifax.
Former director for It’s More Than Buses, Kaitlin Pianosi, said for the past four years the group has been promoting fast, frequent and user-friendly transit, while collecting feedback for a new network redesign.
Tonight, they launch it.
“It’s about multi-modality, but it’s also about infrastructure,” she said. “The routes, the networks, the bus stops, the terminals, the transit hubs.”
Metro Transit is expected to launch their own redesign soon, and Pianosi said the group hopes to influence their plan.
“[The current system is] unreliable, it takes forever to get anywhere,” she said. “This new network will make it far more efficient and more pleasant to actually take the bus.”
Tonight’s event is open to the public and kicks off at the Bus Stop Theatre on Gottingen St., at 7 p.m.
