Cape Breton man airlifted to Halifax after brutal assault in parking lot

SYDNEY, N.S. – RCMP in southern Cape Breton are seeking help from the public as they investigate an assault that left a man so badly injured he had to be taken to hospital in Halifax.

The Mounties in Richmond County say the 51-year-old man from Arichat was attacked yesterday in a parking lot around 1:30 a.m.

The lot is near the intersection of Highway 320 and Whiteside Road.

The victim was initially taken to Strait Richmond Hospital with serious injuries.

He was later airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.
