Motorcyclist hospitalized after being hit by car

A car struck a motorcycle on Barrington Street Tuesday afternoon, sending the motorcyclist to hospital.

A witness told News 95.7 the motorcycle was turning right into the dockyards at the base of North Street when a car turning left from Barrington hit the motorcycle on its side.

“(It was a) head-on collision, right here in the intersection,” said Steven Morrisey.

Sergeant Jeff Carr with Halifax Regional police told News 95.7 the driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital by EHS with non-life threatening injuries, saying he “appeared to have a few possible broken bones.”

The driver of the car was not injured, but Carr says she will have to pay a ticket for failing to yield while making a left-hand turn.
