Halifax Regional Police received a call from a man late last night at the Prince George Hotel alleging he had just been threatened with a gun while in an altercation with a man on Citadel Hill.
Staff Sgt. Greg Robertson told News 95.7 they tracked down a 21-year-old man nearby, however, throughout their investigation police quickly learned the suspect was in fact the victim.
“We determined that the original complainant had in fact threatened the 21-year-old victim and he was criminally harassing him, following him around,” he said. “He was also charged with violating a court order.”
Robertson said they held the 32-year-old man in custody overnight and he will be appearing in court to face several charges later this morning.
“He was charged with misleading police, filing a false police report, because his original complaint was that there was a firearm produced and he was threatened, which, we determined to be false.”
According to police, both the accused and the victim knew each other.
